Description — overview, distinguishing features and historical context of this model/ variant.
Parker Sonnet Mk II — Monochrome

Generation

  • This version belongs to the Sonnet Mk II generation, associated with the 2003–2007 period.
  • The revision changed the cap band and nib decoration while keeping the established Sonnet body shape.
  • The regular Mk II cap has a broad band with a groove near its upper edge and retains the earlier feathered arrow clip.

Production

  • Made in France.
  • Examples of this finish are recorded for 2005–2007.
  • Example on the photos has date code Y.II – Quarter 2, 2006.

Body and finish

  • The Monochrome finish combines silver-coloured surfaces with an angular geometric pattern.
  • The cap and barrel carry the coordinated geometric decoration.
  • The design belongs to the late Mk II range.
  • The grip section is smooth and black, with a narrow metal ring beside the nib.

Nib

  • The nib is stainless steel with a silver-coloured finish.
  • The nib has the engraved V-shaped arrow motif used on steel-nib Sonnets of this period.
  • A twin-channel feed and ink collector sit beneath the nib.

Filling system

  • The pen accepts Parker ink cartridges or a removable converter for bottled ink.
  • The barrel unscrews from the grip section to expose the cartridge or converter.

Cap and clip

  • The cap has a snap-on closure and pulls off for use.
  • The arrow clip has seven diagonal feather lines on each side of its central shaft.
  • The broad cap band has a single circumferential groove near its upper edge.
  • The cap crown has a black inset surrounded by a polished metal rim.

Markings

  • The cap band carries the Parker and Sonnet names, the French country-of-manufacture marking and a production date code.
  • The Parker branding uses the stylised P emblem of this period.
